English Contraction Ielts Exams Preparation
Compression is an abbreviated type of a couple of words (one of which is normally an action word). In a constriction, punctuation replaces the missing letter or letters. A few withdrawals are:
I’m (I am), (can’t), how’s (the means by which is), and Ma’am (Madam).
For instance, “don’t” is a compression that is another way to say “don’t”; the punctuation in “don’t” takes the spot of the missing “o”. Another model is “o’clock,” a compression “of the clock.” A less regular case of withdrawal is “jack-o’- light,” another way to say “jack-of-lamp”; in it, the punctuation replaces the missing “f” in “of.”
